Pets are Banned at Bangkok Public Parks.

The Bangkok Metropolitian Administration (BMA) announced today that pets are banned from the city's public parks. The BMA issued a new regulation effective immediately banning all pets from pubic parks under the Administrations control.

The ban is a result of an increase in the number of complaints from park users about the level of animal "waste" in public areas of the parks. The new regulation is speficially aimed at reducing the number of pet owners bringing their dogs into the parks.

Earthquake hits Japan.

Early this morning, an earthquake struck the northern part of Japan registering a 6.9 magnitude. The shock lasted less than 45 seconds and was centered at Ofunato, Japan which is some 500km from Tokyo.

Several small tsunamis ensued but there have been no causalities reported. Japan has long built their infrastructure to withstand earthquakes, and requires all building to be structurally designed specifically to do so.

Predictive analysis coming out of Thailand, indicates that if an earthquake of similar magnitude were to strike Bangkok, there would be millions of Baht in damage and potentially thousands injured or killed.
